In general this calendar places the long range (Range 117) matches on the 1st weekend of each month, and the mid range and high power (Range 103) matches on the 4th weekend of each Month.

1. No matches on January 1st to avoid conflict with new years holiday.
2. No matches on February 11th through March 16th to avoid a conflict with Western Division Matches.

Thanksgiving holidays and 29 Palms match.

May 20th – Wind Clinic – Range 103

From the SMGC Board of Directors:

SMGC is pleased to announce the second wind clinic it is scheduled for Sunday May 20th.

This clinic will be geared toward the XTC or Across the Course competitor and will include coaching for proper positioning of the body as well as equipment during all phases of firing from 200 through 600 yds.; specifically the National Match course of fire. It will be open and applicable to all classifications of shooters, including new shooters to the sport.

Special consideration for wind reading and mirage doping will also be covered extensively and reinforce the materiel covered in our previous Clinic on February 11th.

The primary instructor for this clinic is, Master Gunnery Sergeant USMC (Ret.) Harry Harrison. A long term Member of SMGC, Harry is a Distinguished Rifleman and outstanding coach. Please see some of his accomplishments below:

He will be joined on the line coaching by several of his colleagues and other distinguished riflemen.

Similar to last time, this Clinic will be open to all Military personnel and SMGC Members first, with all others welcome to register after May 10th and contingent upon space available and successful application for membership in the SMGC.

This is a perfect opportunity for all comers to improve their performance and reinforce skills.

SMGC will hold a High Power XTC Tournament on April 28th and a Mid Range Tournament on April 29th. Please use the pre-registration page on the web site to secure your base access.

Please download and read the match program and complete the registration form ahead of your arrival at Range 103.

Registration opens at 07:30. Firing starts at 08:00.

May 5-6 – NRA ANY/ANY Long Range Match (Range 117)

All Categories Welcome: Each category will be scored in their respective category. (There must be 5 competitors in a given category to count as a match)

Course of fire for all categories will be:

• Saturday – May 5th
• 800 Yard Line: Unlimited sighters – 20 shots for record
• 900 Yard Line: Unlimited sighters – 20 shots for record
• 1000 Yard Line: Unlimited sighters – 20 shots for record
• Sunday – May 6th
• 1000 Yard Line: Unlimited sighters – 20 shots for record
• 1000 Yard Line: Unlimited sighters – 20 shots for record
• 1000 Yard Line: Unlimited sighters – 20 shots for record

Match fees will be:

• SMGC Members, Military, and Junior – $25
• NON-SMGC $30

Awards: Prize money will be awarded using the following criteria regardless of competitor category or equipment type:

• 1st Place for overall aggregate score for May 5 – $25 May 6 – $25
• 2nd Place for overall aggregate score for May 5 – $15 May 6 – $15
• 3rd Place for overall aggregate score for May 5 – $5 May 6 – $5

Patrons please arrive early to fill out paperwork and to help with setup at 0730.

April and May – 900 point Aggregate Pistol Matches

The SMGC is holding 90 shot (900 point aggregate) pistol matches on April 28 and May 26 at Range 102.

Match fees for each day with be $15 for annual members, military, and juniors, and $20 for daily members.
